Home Improvement - Bathroom Demo Part 1

So our upstairs bathroom was sort of in a cove, if you will. Because of this cove, steam wouldn't escape thae shower and thus cause moisture issues on the wall in and around the shower. After talking with several friends/experts we concluded that it would be best to remove this cove and felt that we could do the job... well, atleast the demo part. We got help for the sheet rocking part.

Here is a before shot.

Here is a better shot of what we are calling the cove/wall we removed.
..another angle.
Holy, buckets!? Can we really remove this thing? And when I say "we", I mean, Nick, can you do this?!

Nick is ready to go with his eye wear... and Eli as usual, has something interesting on. Tonight, it's the helmet!

Daddy? What's going on in there?

Daddy....

Daddy, I think I can help!

There he is... my handyman! The cove is still there...

...and a little later that night....

...oh my goodness!

Not too Bad, Nick! (I'm not surprised... he is so meticulous!)

Night 2: Nick had to remove a chunk of wood in the ceiling area of where the cove was. Eli, like always, was ready to help!

Ready to get to work!

Let's do this, Daddy!

Add this to my list of favorite things to wear!

Mama, try these on!

So, these photos were taken two weeks ago. Since then, we have had a guy come in a properly sheet rock, mud, sand, etc. Since we are also replacing the vanity, light fixture and medicine cabinet, we decided to wait until we have a quieter week to get it painted and those new items in place. Whew! I will get pictures posted as soon as we are done! Wish me luck!

A typical morning...

I have no words for this photo...

Yard work

Is there anything better than a beautiful fall day in your backyard?

Time to get some raking done.
Such a hard working little guy.
No job too big for this guy!
 Are we done yet?
Oh, I see some over here....
...maybe I will do what Daddy does and just mow them up.
 Yep, this does the trick.
 Time for a little break!
 Ok, back to work!
 Daddy's little helper!
Nick is already dreaming of the day when Eli can do it himself!

My lil' Cookie Monster!

Yum, Mama! That cookie was delicious!
Is there anything on my face?
You sure?
Seriously, I feel like there is something on my face...
 Mama!
Ha! Ha!

Green Tomatos!

Thank you to my neighbor, Heidi, for the yummy green tomatos! I was able to make myself my favorite southern treat, Fried Green Tomatos! So good! Eli agreed, but preferred them like an apple!

Grandpa Donnie

Eli with Big Papa Donnie, Summer 2009
Grandpa visiting us this Spring after an appointment at the U of M, for the swelling issues he has been going through.
I am asking for your prayers, please. My Grandpa Donnie's (my mother's father) cancer has returned to his leg. Many of you know he has been battling infections with this leg since he first had cancer in it in 1997. Because of the numerous surgeries he has had in his leg, they can not do radiation on his leg. However, if the cancer is in other areas of his body, they will do chemo. If it is only in his leg, they will have his leg amputated. His CAT scan is scheduled for next week when we will learn if the cancer has spread. Please keep my Grandpa in your prayers.

I wanna apple!

This morning Eli blew us all away when he said, "I wanna apple." 3 words! So much fun!
