You were a Pin-cess, Mama?
In our hall we have some pictures hung up. One of them is a picture of Nick and I on our wedding day. Eli pointed it out yesterday and asked what it was. I told him it is a picture of Mama and Daddy when they got married. He responded, "You were a Pin-cess, Mama?" I said, "Yes. Yes, I was a Pin-cess."

Best Buds!
Last night after learning Eli has an ear infection and sinus infection; the three of us were laying together in Nick and my bed. Nick was telling Eli that Eli is his best buddy when he asked Eli who his best buddy is? Eli replied, "Mama." Melted my heart. Some days it is Mama, some days it is Daddy.

Daddy's Nipples...
Yes, you read the title of this posting right... Daddy's nipples. Yesterday, when Nick dropped Eli off at school, Eli decided to tell his teacher that his Daddy has nipples. Could have been worse...

Wanna know what, Mama?
Last night as I was getting dinner ready, Eli and I were chit chatting about his day at school when all of a sudden he says to me, "Wanna know what, Mama?" One of those silly little things you hear kids say, now my little guy is saying it. Anyway, Eli was telling me, "Wanna know what, Mama? I like to go swimming." Oh, the things they say...

I'm a horse and you're a peacock!
Yesterday while in the car, Eli told Nick and I that he was a horse... a BIG horse! Then he went on to tell us that Nick/Daddy is a BIG peacock and that Me/Mama is a little peacock.
Oh, the things they say!

I Like Boots.
Yesterday after dinner, Eli and I were getting ready to head out to the library. Eli has a pair of brown boots he got from Nick's brother, Chris & family, for Christmas. Eli's cousin Lukey has the same boots and Eli made sure to remind me of this (how do they remember details like that?). Anyway, as we are putting on his boots he said to me, "I Like Boots". I just said, "I know you do, honey."

Nick kicks some Baby Giant you-know-what!
So last night while I was at yoga, Nick was putting Eli to bed. Eli had been in his room for some time when all of a sudden he calls for Nick and says that the Baby Giants are in his room again. Being the wonderful father that Nick is, he says to Eli, "What?! Where are they?" Eli points out where one of the Baby Giants where when Nick (pretended to) pick up a Baby Giant and told it that it needed to leave. Nick walked that Baby Giant and a handful of other Baby Giants out of the house, one by one, all while Eli laid in bed belly laughing at his silly Daddy. Maybe Eli realized how silly this Baby Giant business was... I guess we will see tonight if the Baby Giants are coming back and if we need to kick them out again??!!

Baby Giants
Eli is going through a phase of being afraid of the dark. We use to be able to put him to sleep with the door completely shut and no nightlight. Until recently, he has been requesting for the door to be opened and sometimes for us to leave the hall light on for him. Lastnight he became freightened and he ran into our room. He told me there were baby giants (baby giants?!) in his room and that he was scared. We laid together in my bed and I explained that only Mama, Daddy and Eli are in the house and that there is nothing to be afraid of. We laid together for a bit quietly when after a while Eli said, "I'll keep you safe, Mama." What a sweet little guy...

I have a bird in my mouth!
This morning as we were getting ready for the day, we were being silly while Eli was getting dressed he got the hiccups from giggling. He paused as they started up and with a look of disgust said, "I have a bird in my mouth!" I said, "You have a bird in your mouth?! Let Mama see." I looked in his mouth and assured him there wasn't a bird in his mouth. Convinced that there really was a bird in his mouth, Eli said, "I go to the dcotor. The doctor will fix it."

Nice and Clean
Eli and I were sitting in the kitchen eating breakfast while Nick was taking a shower this morning. After Nick was finished he walked into the kitchen, when Eli said, “Daddy, did you wash your belly button? Your nipples? Your toes?”

Thay way...!
Yesterday on our way home from Nick's Mom's, we were just a block from home when Nick turned to go see a home a block away that had recently sold and was getting some rennovations done. As Nick turned, Eli pointed down our street and said, "That way..." We were impressed!

My Mama!
Yesterday (Easter Sunday), we were at my Grandpa's Farm one last time together as a family. I was holding my Aunt Cynthia's youngest, Grant, who is about 8 months old when Eli walked up to Grant and I, looked Grant in the eye and said, "My Mama."

I Ee-i!
Many of Eli's friends call him "Li-Li," and sometimes Nick and I do too. The other day when I asked Eli a question, I referred to him as "Li-Li," which he then corrected me, "Mama, I Ee-i..." I stand corrected, by a two year old!?

Where Oscar?
Last weekend we were playing in the backyard when Eli goes over to our neighbor Gerry's shed with an aluminum trash can behind it. Eli asked "Where Oscar?" Wondering if Oscar the Grouch lived in Gerry's trash can.

Eli Says...
Eli’s vocabulary is just exploding… everyday he blows us out of the water with the things he says to us. Mostly a mirror of what we say to him, just in his own little way… Which is also a great reminder to watch every little thing you say!
Last night, Eli and I took a walk around our block and at one point Eli asked me to carry him. As I was holding him, he said, “Mama has a purple hat.” Which was true, I was wearing a purple hat.
This morning as we were getting ready for the day, we were in the bathroom and I dropped a couple things when Eli says, “Mama, what happened? What happened, Mama?”
Then we were in the bedroom and I was getting dressed when he said to me, “I’m gonna get you, Mama! I ‘m gonna get you!” when he starting chasing after me…
Nick shared with me that in the car this morning Eli told Nick, “Daddy, I have an elephant in my ear.” This was coming from his doctor’s visit the other night when I told Eli the doctor was going to look in his ear for an elephant (he LOVES elephants). The conversation went on and on about if there could be puppies or kitties on our ears, too.
I told Eli this because when I was little the doctor would tell me the same thing. This was always very entertaining, so I thought I would do the same for Eli.
I am so proud of him and his love for learning and exploring every day. It is the greatest joy to watch this little person grow into such an amazing human being!

Billboards
On our way home from Eli’s daycare everyday, we take Snelling Ave. Just before the fairgrounds there are about 3 -4 billboards on each side of the road… one is a huge Troll for Treasure Island resort and Casino, one is for a Country music station, and another is a man’s face for a mortgage company or something… Everyday Eli says, “Mama, what’s that? What’s that, Mama?” I tell him, “It’s a billboard, Eli.” To which he repeats, “A billboard.” This morning when Nick was taking Eli to daycare, Eli says, “It’s a Billboard, Daddy!” Nick called me immediately to tell me.

Eli Says...
I see Eli digging in his nose and he pulls “something" out. He shows me his finger and I say, “What is it, Eli?” Eli says, “It’s a Goober, Mama.”

Let's! Play! Hockey!
Our son is obsessed with all things hockey. He has only been skating one time, but he is hooked! For Christmas he got some hockey equipment... goal nets, hockey sticks, special balls for practicing hockey indoors...etc, etc. If he sees the Minnesota WILD logo, he shouts, "It's a hockey game!"
Recently, we were trying to get Eli to drink some water and he refused, until we told him it was hockey water... then he was all about it. One night when we were struggling to get him to eat his chicken at dinner time... until we told him it was hockey chicken!
Last night as we were getting ready for bed I asked Eli if he wanted to wear his dinosaur jammies or his moose jammies.... he said, "Hockey jammies". He does have hockey jammies, but they aren't real hockey jammies. They are actually baseball jammies... but one night Eli didn't want to put on jammies, so Nick told him the jammies he was trying to put on him were, yes, hockey jammies...
We are terrible!
