Yes, it was a very poopy naptime here at the Sundsmos this afternoon. Eli and I started our day out as we do every Tuesday at the
Red Balloon Bookshop on Grand. We went to visit Nick at work and just walked around for a little bit. On our way home, Eli passed out. So when we got home, I made a quick lunch and got him to sleep asap. I changed his diaper before he went to bed and didn't put his jeans on because I thought he would be more comfortable (we have done it many times before). When Eli takes his naps, I go into my office and get some work done. Well, it seemed that he wasn't going to sleep. Usually, I give him a few minutes and then will go and check on him. So, a few minutes passed and I went to check on him and find him with his diaper off and thrown on the ground (completely dry and clean) but his bed... his bed was full of poop! The sheet was saturated with poop and the crib rails were full of poop... Eli was covered in poop on his hands and legs. I didn't know what to do... I wanted to call someone to come and help! Could I call an emergency baby-poop-cleaning service and have them take care of this? Was I going to have to touch the poop? It was EVERYWHERE!!! So, I took Eli's shirt off, and carried him as best as I could without making contact with the poop. I got him in to the tub and the poo would NOT COME OFF of him!!! It was like a paste... stuck on his hands and legs and not coming off! "Lord, help me," I prayed to myself and I knew what I had to do... I scrubbed the poop off with my bare hands! I kept telling myself, "it's pudding, it's pudding, it's pudding". I wanted to die, but this all happened so fast and I just had to do it! After I got the boy all cleaned up, I turned on his favorite show and got to work on cleaning up his bed. As I mentioned, the poop was all over his crib rails, in every nook and cranny! I tore off the bedding and bumper got them into the wash. Finally, I cleaned myself up and went check on the little guy who was watching the last minute of his show. Eli started jibber-jabbing to me; it was like he was telling me, "Mom, we should probably leave my pants on for nap times." So, Eli will be napping with pants on from here on out.
