A gentleman...

While up north with Nick's mom and step-dad, we had dinner at The Lighthouse at Emily's (one of our favorite places to have dinner at in the Two Harbors area). Anyway, as we were leaving, Eli offered to carry Gran's purse... what a little gentleman...

A little work never hurt anyone...

Just some fun pictures of Eli working outside today.

With his work gloves from Nana, Eli is ready to tackle some projects outside.

He loves to sweep! And we appreciate his help!

"Mama, I'm workin'!"

Such a boy!

Pickin' up sticks!

Time for some fun!

What a smile!

Home Depot!

Eli loves the Home Depot for one reason and one reason only!
He lives for this cart!
It's heartbreaking when we go there and someone else is using it... just heartbreaking...

Date night!

Eli and I went out to dinner together tonight. Before we left, he needed to change his clothes since he had been playing outside and was a little dirty. I let him pick out his outfit and this is what he came up with...

He turned heads at dinner!
Very proud of his selection.
What a handsome lil' fella!

Matthew Sutmar

Nick's 2nd cousin, Matthew Sutmar, passed away last week. Matthew served in Iraq and was a recipient of many medals of honor. Matthew took his own life on March 4th. The priest at Matthew's service did an amazing eulogy for Matthew. He talked about the amazing sacrifices Matthew made and how loved and adored he was by his family. He talked about suicide and that just because someone takes their life does not mean that they do not go to heaven. He explained that Matthew was suffering and now he is in the kingdom of God and at peace. I believe that too.

Thank you Matthew for the sacrifices you made for me, my son, my husband, for this country. Rest in peace.

Matthew William Sutmar, age 25, of Hudson, Wis., passed unexpectedly on March 4.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Sutmar and Patrick McConville; his grandmother Mary Cynthia Sutmar; and his uncle Steven Sutmar.
Matthew is survived by his father, Thomas Sutmar; his mother, Cynthia McConville, and his sisters, Stephanie, Jessica, and Ashlee; his grandmother Audrey McConville; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Matthew proudly served as an Army Sgt. in the Iraq War, earning numerous commendations. Matthew enjoyed a wide range of wonderful hobbies, especially hunting, fishing, and spending time with his three sisters. Matthew leaves behind many memories, lots of laughter, but most of all, love. "The soldier leaves the war, but the war never leaves the soldier."

Mass of Christian Burial for Matthew Sutmar will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 12, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with Fr. Gene Murphy officiating. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial with full military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 1:20 p.m., Assembly Area #5. Memorials preferred to donor's choice.

Braces?!

I got braces... Ugh. My teeth weren't terrible, but this front tooth of mine was popping up and twisting. It kept getting worse and worse and the ONLY way to fix it was BRACES! I had braces for 6-months when I was 15. Just on the top teeth. Since our insurance is pretty good for adult braces, I decided to go for it. I looked into the Invisalign option, but my Orthodontist said this was going to give me the best and quickest results.
Before

And... After... 18 months to go!
