Rubes, Ru-Ru, Ruby-Girl, Ruby McRuberton, etc., etc.

Oh, little Ruby, Rubes, Ru-Ru, Ruby-Girl, Ruby McRuberton, etc., etc. She has certainly made her mark on our family! We have had her for over a month now and she is doing so well! Potty training is going well, she sleeps through the night (although she is quite the early riser!), she does well in her kennel while we are at work, and she LOVES to snuggle in the evenings!

Eli is doing very well with her and is very confident with things such as picking her up by the tail (Nick and I both screamed, "Eli! Put! Ruby! Down!" upon seeing this), snuggling with her while watching a movie, carrying her around, giving her treat, etc. When Eli picked Ruby up by the tail, the poor thing just made a little squeak. She is a pretty quiet dog and she is so very gentle. As quiet as she is, she sure does have alot of spunk and personality.

We say the silliest things to her like, "Who's the prettiest girl in the world?", "Who's the best dog in the world", etc. Yesterday, when Eli was playing with her, I overheard him saying, "Who's the prettiest girl in the world?", "Who's the best dog in the world"... So neat to see how much she also means to Eli.

My parents were visitng this weekend and my mom was holding Ruby in her lap and I was sitting next to her. Ruby looked at me, got up and laid down on my lap. When I go down into the basement, she stands at the top of the landing (hasn't figure out going down a flight of stairs yet) and softly cries for me. Needless to say, she is a mama's girl. But she does enjoy snuggling with Nick!

I knew getting a puppy would be alot of work, and like it is for everyone, was much more than I anticipated. But we absolutely love this little pup and are so glad she is a part of our family!

Ruby back from the groomer yesterday... so pretty!

Plan Bee

Our sweet neighbors, Gerry, Beth, Ellen & Scotty, got Eli a book from Hallmark called Winnie the Pooh's Plan Bee. It is a recordable book that you follow along with. Ellen & Scotty recorded themselves reading the book. Eli LOVES Ellen & Scotty and he LOVES his new book!

Thank you Voermans'! xxoo

Welcome to the Family, Little Miss Ruby!

It's so hard to get a good picture of her. She is very busy when she is awake, so I caught this picture of her sleeping. Sleepy little girl.
Last week we went out to dinner, just the three of us. After dinner we decided to walk around that mall to let Eli run off some energy. While walking around we stopped in a pet store we often check out to look at kitties, puppies and fish. Well, when we walked in... there she was. I couldn't take my eyes off her and I HAD to hold her. I held her and I was SOLD! I wanted to take her home. I have never had a dog and Nick and I have gone back and forth on getting one for Eli. A friend of mine has had pugs and I have always adored them and thought a pug would be the perfect fit for our little family and our little house. It took some coaxing with Nick, but we finally decided to get her. We picked her up the day after Christmas and are quickly (and tiredly) adjusting to our new little family member. The potty training is going very well... and she is very content with kenneling up at night. I started taking her for walks the day we brought her home and she is already walking ahead of me. The best part is when we get back to our house she runs up to the house and it looks as though she is so happy to be at her house. I joke that it is like having a newborn with all the attention and care that goes into having a new puppy, but it is so much fun having a new addition to our family. She is fitting in perfectly... Little Miss Ruby.

Meet Ruby

Meet, Ruby. The newest addition to our little family. We got Ruby from the pet store here in Roseville. We usually go there if we are nearby so Eli can check out the fish, kitties and puppies. We went there a couple nights before Christmas and I saw her (someone else was holding her) and I had to have her!

We finally got her from the other people and she was kissing us and BEGGING us to take her home! We found out her birthday was 9.02.12 (our wedding Anniversary). IT WAS MEANT TO BE! Nick did everything he could to stop this, but finally gave in!

We had been talking about getting a dog for Eli and when I saw Ruby, I knew she would be perfect for our family.

If you know me, you know that I LOVE pugs. A friend of mine has had two and I just adore them and always said if we got a dog I would ONLY get a pug. Now we got her!

I have never had a dog before, so I have much to learn! But I really think it is important for children to grow up with a pet to help take care of and to love. Eli is very excited about Ruby and is already doing a great job helping to take care of her! mostly giving her treats!
