Eat your Veggies!

We just started Eli on Veggies this week. After (2) successful weeks of rice cereal... and hitting the 6-month mark... we introduced Eli to his first vegetable... Green Beans...mmmmm...MMM!!! I decided to make his baby food since Nick got me a sweet food processor years ago... and it was super easy and super fun! So, Eli has had Green Beans, Peas, Carrots and Avocado this week. The new tastes and textures will probably take a while to get use to.

I also made Eli some "Teething Cookies" which he really enjoyed.... They were super easy to make also. Just 1-cup of Baby Rice Cereal and 1-Cup of Whole Wheat Flour and maybe 2-Tablespoons of ice cold water..... roll them out as thin or thick as your baby will like and cut into a shape of your choosing. Bake at 425 for a couple minutes (depending on how thick or thin you have them....and voilĂ ! Homemade Baby cookies! Yum!
Above are the Baby cookies I made...
"Mmmm! Mom, these cookies are good!"

6-Months Old!

"Whoa! I'm 6-Months?!!"

Bamm is 6-Months old! Amazing to think of all the adventures we have had just in these 6 short months.... so exciting to think of all the fun that is yet to be had. My greatest joy is just watching Eli learn. He is so inquisitive. Just the other day as we were walking out of his bedroom I noticed him reach for the light switch... he will also grab the bottle from our hands and put it up to his mouth. Tonight when I laid him in bed, I watched him basically "army crawl" from the head of the bed to the bottom... busy-busy boy!

Note: Bamm is short for Bamm-Bamm.... a nickname from his father. It is actually very fitting for Eli and better than Boo-Boo, which I use to call Eli when he was brand new... I thought I better stop calling him Boo-Boo.

Mastectomy Law Change

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the ‘drive-through mastectomy' where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached. Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You need not give more than your name and zip code.

This takes about 2 seconds. PLEASE PASS THIS ON!!!

Flashback Friday - My Jean Jacket Edition

My Jean Jacket…. Purchased at The GAP in Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. I was just 19 years old and on my way to Lake Tahoe to meet a friend from Bemidji State for the weekend. I was hopping on a Ferry that would take me to Oakland to catch a bus that would take me to a train to the would finally get me to Lake Tahoe…. Whew! Not bad, eh? While I had my trip logistics planned perfectly, I didn’t pack so well… I was freezing cold and decided to run into The GAP for a jacket. I had 5 minutes… literally. I saw the jean jacket… paid the cashier and tore the tags off as I ran to catch the ferry to Oakland.

I am not very sentimental about things… but, this silly jacket holds a very special place in my heart.

ahhh...so comfy...

It's so great...even my friends want to borrow it...

Rockin' the jean jacket at our Groom's Dinner...

...again, at the Groom's dinner...

And finally, here I am with my guys... and my jean jacket.

Book Club Tuesday - Beautiful Boy & Pat the Bunny

Beautiful Boy is one of my new top favs... It is a heart wrenching (true) story of the lengths a parent will go for their child. Call me if you read it... I am dying to talk to someone about it!
